When tackling a problem in a group, do not assume you’re the smartest person in the room, no matter how statistically improbable a smarter person’s presence may be. Other people’s training, experience, education, or creativity are often just as well suited to tackling the problem at hand – sometimes even better. Even an ignorant perspective can be useful.
Said more bluntly, do not sit there privately calculating how likely an attendee is to have half your IQ. It’s unhelpful. Remember, it can be argued that a perspective so far skewed from the norm as yours needs all the help it can get :–)
